This placemat and coaster set is made of handspun, handwoven mulberry fibre with natural dyes by Tai Lao artisans in Vientiane Province.
Mulberry trees are prevalent in Laos, and mulberry leaves are the favoured food of silkworms. Mulberry paper has long been used in Laos, but mulberry fibre has only recently been employed as a textile material.
